Loss and Grief Counselling 

Grief is the reaction people have to any loss in their lives. It includes a wide range of responses which vary with each person and their particular circumstances and experiences. The death of a significant person in one's life is a major loss, but grief can be felt about many losses.

Examples include:

  • The breakdown of a relationship
  • Moving
  • Diminishing health
  • The loss of a pet
  • Losing a job
  • Giving up something that mattered a lot
  • Losing a dream

When people grieve, they are coming to terms with what has changed in their lives. At the same time, they are beginning to find new ways of going about their lives to cope with the gaps that the loss has created. .

Grieving is a way of finding solace and building strength to bounce back into life.

Loneliness, sadness, rage and depression are some of the processes of grieving. We might find that the people that we are close to may be struggling to cope themselves, or may be struggling with helping you to deal with your grief. Having someone to offer guidance and support at times like this can be life-altering – and sometimes life-saving.
